The Australian Working Holiday Visa is a special permit designed to help young people live, work and travel throughout Australia for up to one year while supplementing their travel funds with temporary employment. Each year thousands, mostly from the UK, Canada, and Europe take advantage of the Working Holiday Visa and spend one of the most memorable years of their lives enjoying all the sun, sea, surf and adventure that Australia has to offer.

Eligibility. Who Can Get One?

The Australian Working Holiday visa is potentially available to anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who holds a current passport to one of the following countries: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, or the UK.

In order to qualify you will also need to show that you have sufficient monies necessary to fund your travel. Applicants may be asked to provide a bank statement showing a minimum of 5000$ AUS. This amount may vary however depending on your length of stay, and your travel plans once inside Australia.

Working Holiday Visa Conditions? What Can You Do?

The Australian Working Holiday Visa is valid for a single year and must be used within one year of receipt. The visa will allow you enter Australia, stay for year and gain temporary employment during your stay. However, with the Working Holiday Visa you are not permitted to work for any single employer for more than six months. Those visiting Australia solely for work purposes should consider applying for another more orthodox Working Visa.

The Working Holiday Visa is a multiple entry visa and permits you to leave and re-enter Australia any number of times during your year of stay.

How Much Does It Cost?

When you apply for your Working Holiday Visa you must pay a compulsory, non refundable application fee of 185$ AUS. If you use a specialist Working Holiday Visa Service Company to assist with your application, there is of course an additional fee.

How to Apply?

You can apply for your visa directly through the Australian High Commission by completing an online application form. Because your visa fee is non refundable, any mistakes in your application will result in you not receiving your Working Holiday Visa and losing your money.

There are a number of companies such as these that will simplify the process for you, check that all the required documents are in order, and generally oversee the smooth application of your Working Holiday Visa.
